MFP: How were you discovered as a model?
D: I was scouted on Bondi Beach back home in Australia.
MFP: What was your first paid gig as a model?
D: It was a runway show for an Australian brand.
Prada jacket and shoes, Acne Studios t-shirt and pants
MFP: What is the meaning of “Good Taste” to you?
D: I think having good taste is having an interest in anything that withstands the test of time. To have good taste is to be classically timeless.
MFP: What is your favorite clothing style? What item do you have the most of?
D: I like monochromtaic basics, i own about 8 pairs of black jeans.
MFP: 3 things that you can’t live without?
D: My fan (I can't sleep without a fan), parental advice and coffee.
MFP: Do you like living in New York? Why or Why not?
D: I love it - It took a while to get used to. Its obviously a lot different to back home in AUS. I find as long as I'm being active and striving towards something then i enjoy the ride. If you are complacent thats when the city can eat you up.
MFP: Do you have any strategies in running your social media platforms?
D: I try and post a variety of things - theres a lot of people out there so you've got to offer some point of difference. I post a lot of my boxing training as I'm usually training around 3-4 times a week at Gleasons gym in Brooklyn.
MFP: As a model, do you think it is important to have a lot of followers on Instagram to get gigs?
D: I think it is to a degree, however i think its more important to have a loyal following that you engage highly with. I think brands are looking at that side of things now more than ever.
Off-White jacket, COS t-shirt, APC pants
MFP: What is your exercise routine/type? Also, to keep healthy, what types of food do you eat?
D: I train most days during the week and then usually take the weekends off. I box 3 times a week then train at the gym the other two either lifting weights or doing body weight work (focusing on explosive movements). I eat a high fat diet (good fat). I don't eat much red meat or chicken but I do eat a lot of fish (mainly salmon).
MFP: Is there a place you want to travel to that you have yet to visit?
D: Where ever that place is with the crystal clear blue water and the swimming pigs!
MFP: What is a highlight of your modeling career?
D: I just recently shot a Hugo Boss campaign in New York - that was pretty cool. Walking for Ralph Lauren Show last year was also a big highlight.
Maison Margiela sweater, Marni pants
MFP: What’s next for Douglas Joseph? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
D: I'm working on a few things at the moment but can't say too much about them. 2018 has been a great year so far. In ten years time i want to be running a business in New York. Ive always wanted to do that since day one.
