Alessandro Squarzi

Alessandro Squarzi

We had the honor of having Mr. Alessandro Squarzi be part of our series "A day with..."

Alessandro Squarzi is one of the most photographed figures in the men’s fashion scene. His style is something that many street style photographer crave for and he never fails to deliver. However, his success in being shot during Pitti Uomo or fashion week is merely a coincidence due to his career as a menswear consultant. For those who do not know, Mr. Squarzi is the founder and director of his successful consultancy and showroom business. Alessandro's career demands that he is not only present in trade shows such as Pitti Uomo, but also attend the many events, dinners, and parties associated with his business, and that is how a day with Alessandro Squarzi looked like.

He started his day by having breakfast at Caffe Gilli (one of the most beautiful cafés in Florence, Italy) He enjoyed the authentic Italian foods this cafe has to offer with his friends, Ouigi Teodore, Max Poglia and Andrew Livingston. They shared a brotherhood ring that has a golden horseshoe. As they left Caffe Gilli and headed back to the hotel, their interest in menswear made them check out some vintage pieces showcased through a local shop's window.

And as Alessandro and his friend continued to make their way, a photographer manage to get some shots in for one of Conde Nast's magazines (something Mr. Squarzi is all too familiar with).

Still on his way to the hotel, Alessandro met with Ken, a designer, and picked up a waist coast from him. They did spend quite some time talking about the details and fabric of the coat. He finally got to the hotel and changed to his second outfit and headed to Fortezza da Basso for Pitti Uomo 88.

We forgot to mention that Mr. Squarzi also runs his own brand called Fortela. Which is the main reason why he attended Pitti Uomo.  The pictures below are from his stand which showcased some of the fabrics and materials that he uses for Fortela.

After a long day at Pitti Uomo, Alessandro headed to the Saks event on the rooftop terrace of the Westin Excelsior hotel for an evening of intimate conversations, some great wine, and laughs with his good friends. And as our day with him came to an end, it was easy to see why his popularity in the mens fashion scene continues to grow. With such great success, impeccable fashion, he is by definition a true gentleman.
